USS Carl Vinson Family DayF-18 takeoff

At 6:30 AM on the 12th of August 1998 around 3,000 people boarded buses at Puget Sound Navel Shipyard in Washington State USA, bound for Port Hadlock. We boarded the Carl Vinson around 10:30 AM, and headed into the Strait of Juan de Fuca for a wonderful day filled with an air show, magnificent scenery, tours of the ship and lots of time to visit with friends and family.

It was around Midnight when we departed from the ship and headed home, with many delightful memories to last a lifetime.

The first shot here is an F–18 taking off from the ship in the other shot we see the aircraft pulled to a stop by a cable, captured by a hook aboard the craft.
F-18 landing

My thanks go to the Navy, the Captain and crew of the USS Carl Vinson, for providing this opportunity to travel on such a fine ship.
