I have had experience with using Adobe PageMaker to produce items like this fictitious menu. The idea was to create a 1950's style 2 sided, laminated menu.
First 4 sketches of differing designs were made on 3 1/2 X 5" cards. Then rough designs were created using Adobe Photoshop. The final design was decided upon and the image for the front of the menu was produced.
First I typed out the list of offerings without any formatting. Next came the design phase, Each section of the menu was formatted using Style Sheets to ensure a uniform look. I tried to decide upon prices that were realistic to the era
I wanted to make it devoid of any specific religious symbolism. The idea was to present all of the food groups that I could in the space available.
The presentation that you are about to see is limited to around 2 shots per page, so that each page may load more quickly. Most have been hand printed.
My greatest hand printing challenge was Sawtooth Ridge in the Trinity Alps. That image took me a month to complete by hand. No electronic help at all. One photograph of the ridge was shot close up and the other from a distance. In the darkroom I reshaped the ridge on both images until they matched up. Then I put the two shots together.
