Using the filters in Adobe Photoshop 4 on Nikki's photograph, I came up with the following variations. Included are brief descriptions of the process used.

Find edges
Fade find edges 90% normal mode
Crop
Select a border, inverse
Fill R=51, G=0, B=153 (websafe color)

Watercolor Brush Detail 9, Shadow Intensity 1. Texture 2

Curves set points 1/4 way from high and low, tweak.
