William Morris was born on March 24, 1834 in Walthamstow a suburb of London. He died in 1896 after prodigious and influential careers as a painter, poet, typographer, socialist, preservationist, printer, publisher, and designer. When he died, at the age of sixty-two, his physician declared that the cause was "simply being William Morris, and having done more work than most ten men."
