astounding new features and the added
bennefit of being combined into one source.
This version of MegaPov is based on the

- Stochastic Radiosity Patch Page
- In July 1999, I wrote a patch for PoV 3.1g that implements a stochastic ray-tracing
technique using hemisphere sampling (Monte Carlo integration) to compute global
illumination. I named it the "Stochastic Global Illumination" patch. It's totaly
independent from the actual radiosity code in PoV.

- UniPatch
- By Jon A. Cruz - Allows use of unicode ttf fonts in Pov-Ray v3.1
POV-Ray Patches v3.5
- Density_File Extension Patch
- The density_file pattern in POV-Ray 3.5 is
extremely flexible. It may be used anywhere
any pattern, functions, etc. However, the
resolution of the density_file in the official
version is only 8 bit and there are only two
interpolation options (no interpolation and
tri-linear interpolation). These are not
enough for some purposes, e.g. for
isosurfaces. Thus, I have made an unofficial
patch for the density files. Using this patch
one can use density files of float values, 16
bit integer values with binary or text format.
Furthermore, tri-cubic interpolation options are included.
- POV-Ray 3.5 Patches
- Site offers various new patches based on the POV-Ray v3.5 source code.

- CG&A: Abstract: On-the-Fly Texture Computation For Real-Time Surface Shading
- This article explores the issues related to
rendering realistic surfaces using standard
texture-mapping hardware. Such hardware
enables the rapid rendering of color-mapped
surfaces with interpolated surface shading.
By computing textures on the fly using new
algorithms, this article extends the domain to
bump mapping, Phong shading and
reflection mapping in combination. The
efficiency of the algorithms arises from a
combination of caching data in parametric
arrays and using tables for fast evaluation of
shading functions. These tables are
computed efficiently by making use of
angular coherence.

- Geometry Caching for Ray-Tracing Displacement Maps
- We present a technique for rendering
displacement mapped geometry in a
ray-tracing renderer. Displacement mapping
is an important technique for adding detail to
surface geometry in rendering systems. It
allows complex geometric variation to be
added to simpler geometry, without the cost
in geometric complexity of completely
describing the nuances of the geometry at
modeling time and with the advantage that
the detail can be added adaptively at
rendering time.

might see in a garden or in dungeons. Both
files created by Steven Pigeon and are

macro parameters: lens radius and
thickness. Two example refractive glass

edges in a scene, but a superellipsoid isn't
quite the thing you want? Try this macro to
get some smooth edges without placing all
those spheres and cylinders.
- Random function Macro
- A macro shortcut for a mathematical
calculation: input is a range (two different
numbers), output is a random number in that
range (i.e. smaller than the maximum and
larger than the minimum).
- Subdivision Surface Suite
- A subdivision surface is a method of
generating curving surfaces by taking a
mesh of polygons, and refining those
polygons by replacing them with smaller
polygons, each derived by a set formula
from the polygons of the prior generation of
the surface. The resulting polygon mesh,
over successive generations, approaches a
smooth curve. The Surface Subdivision
Suite is, as its name implies, a suite of
macros which enable the user to take a
coarse triangle mesh and smooth it into
something that appears far smoother.

max_extent, and so forth to produce a
simulated surface scan of a #declared POV
object, and export it as a triangle mesh in
RAW or LSL format. RAW files can then
be converted with programs such as 3DWin
or Crossroads to a number of other formats,
and LSL files can be directly imported into
the Leveller height field editor.
