WASHINGTON D.C. ... We've been vacationing for the past week in the nation's capital, attending our daughter's college graduation and seeing the sights. Since visiting the city when I was in middle school, much has changed. New monuments have been erected for the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, and Franklin Roosevelt. A new monument for WWII is under construction. Also, there are more blocked streets, more barracades and more traffic.

A lifesaver was the Hertz NeverLost device. This GPS receiver always knew where we were. Plug in a destination, and it would calculate a course to get us there. Get off track or miss a turn? Not to worry. NeverLost would recognize that we were "off track", and recalculate a new course. Voice prompts alert the driver to upcoming turns and the direction of the turns. This was a real marriage-saver.

Available at Hertz Rental.

Don't leave home without one!!

OPERATION OFB - One Fine Butt!! ... Ladies, ladies!! Robyn at OneFatBitchyPoo has decided to initiate Operation OFB. Find yourself a hill nearby, and tackle it every day for the next month. Why? Robyn replies, "Because walking up hills works your glutes, and four weeks of walking up and back down a hill will work the hell out of those glutes. Work 'em, work 'em!". The slogan:

Operation OFB - Walking Our Butts Off, One Hill at a Time.

She has even sponsored a search for a logo for Operation OFB. Soon there will be a place on CafePress where you, too, can get your official Operation OFB T-shirt.

WALK FOR BREAKFAST ... Sunday, I was feeling pretty good, and decided to go to Denny's for breakfast. The route I took was about a 4.5 mile loop, and took a little over an hour to walk. After taking the direct route home, about 3 miles, I tried some weight training using the SuperSlow technique. They are right - there is no free lunch here. Even though using relatively light dumbbells, I was surprised at how tired muscles can get when slowly raising and lowering weight. Of course, I am not the picture of physical bufftitude, but it was a workout.

Next weekend, I will resume jogging. The healing process should be far enough along.
