2000.12.16 NUTS!!! - Yes, I've slipped a bit off the pace this week. Haven't been drinking my water. Didn't walk/jog too much. Didn't want to go out in the rain. Saw and ate some mixed nuts - fattening!!.

If you have not yet checked out My Secret to weight loss, just click on the link. Upon scanning the discussion boards from DietWatch and Cyberdiet, I see a gaggle of people posting messages of despair, having lost control of their way of eating.

If you are one of those, BUCK UP!!.

It is not the end of the world. Get back on the horse and keep riding. If you really *want* to lose weight, you *can* and you *will*.

16 days to go, weight 260.25, 10.25 lbs to lose for Mini-Goal.

2000.12.17 Oh Christmas Tree ... - Although we have a very realistic-looking artificial tree that has served us well for about 10 years, our daughter convinced me to get a "real" tree this year, for when she comes home from college for the holidays. As we went looking for the tree and some other gifts, it struck me that there were fewer people out shopping than I expected. The mall was not so overcrowded that it was uncomfortable, and there were trees available at a lot near the mall, at a lot on the mall, and at a lot on the way home (where we purchased it). We got the tree home, found the stand without much trouble and erected the tree without incident. If the cats will just stay out of it, it may turn out to be OK.

Starting tomorrow, I'll weigh every day for the remainder of the year. I generally don't do that, because my weight can fluctuate as much as 3-4 pounds in one day. This is a little experiment to record those fluctuations. Although I won't make 250 by the new year, we'll see just how close I can get!

15 days to go to Mini-goal.

2000.12.18 Priorities Need Straightening ... I can't seem to turn down the offer of a donut ... or a cookie ... and had both offered to me today. On the positive side, I managed to factor them into my daily calories and stayed at a reasonable level.

I should have remembered an article that I read, the The 100-Day, count-down, 'Good-Enough,' Feedback, Diet and Exercise Program, where the author discusses his motivational approach to weight loss. He attaches the day number & current weight loss on his watchband - thus providing a constant reminder of the amount of time invested in the effort and the reward for his vigilence. That provides the motivation to say "no thanks" to goodies. The article (actually a 40+ page manual) has a sound philosophical foundation, if not being a little geeky in its implementation. ... :O)

14 days to go, weight 261.5, 11.5 lbs to lose for Mini-Goal.
