2001.05.26 BUSY, BUT NOT TOO BUSY... I have not been updating the journal as frequently as I planned. My work has been very busy lately - almost too busy. BUT, I am determined to allocate time to exercise, even sacrificing time on the computer or TV. I have not been happy with the rate of weight loss lately, so I have stepped up the amount I do each day, and the intensity level. As a result, my reward was a 4+ pound loss this week!

My morning & evening dog walks have been extended from 1.3 miles to 2.0 miles. Not much, but it adds up! In the evening, if I get a chance to go out for myself, I usually do another 3 miles in 45 minutes, sometimes jogging part way. In all, I've increased my exercise to about 2 hours per day, mostly in ~30-40 minute chunks. I'll post some summary charts from my SportBrain when I get a moment tonight or tomorrow

2001.05.31 KICKING MY BUTT... OK, I promised some of my SportBrain charts. On Memorial Day, I took a LONG walk after I got home (from work!) and burned the pavement for about 7.5 miles. The pace averaged about 4 mph the whole time, about 2 hours.

Then last night, Vicki volunteered to walk with me, since the afternoon had been too hot to exercise. That had been one of my more active days. The colored areas represent:

  • 05:45 Walking the dog - 1.3 miles
  • 07:00 Walk around the neighborhood prior to work - 1.1 miles
  • 12:10 Walk to the Subway snadwich shop - 1.6 miles
  • 12:55 Walk from Subway back to work - 1.6 miles
  • 08:30 Walk the dog - 1.3 miles
  • 09:15 Walk with Vicki - 3.9 miles

Anyway, I was expecting a casual walk. However, although she started slow, she kept the pace at 4mph for the better part of 3+ miles, with a potty stop toward the end. I hate to admit it, but she is in as good, or better shape than the fat kid!

Thank You for Visiting!!
