But enough of that. I put in 16.5 miles of walking (with a little running) as I got back into the groove today. The weather was perfect for walking and we did a couple of hikes today. That adds up to 31,000+ steps during the course of the day. Though not quite equivalent to a half-marathon, the morning walk of 10.8 miles got close. The remainder was made up of three short walks with the dog and some errands. The miles do add up...
The July 4th goal of 200 is going to be tough. But we'll see just how close I get. After all, any loss is a good loss!!
2001.06.28 PRIORITIES ... The past two weeks have been HELL!! We're in the midst of factory acceptance tests on three separate million $$ systems and I'm right in the middle of it. As a result, the hours have been long and everything else has taken a back seat.
... until now. This B.S. is going to continue, right up to the time I go on vacation! I've decided that I can fit in some daily exercise and still to justice to my job ... and so can you. As examples, I walk the dog in the morning around our 1.3 mile course, taking about 25 minutes. After showering, dressing, and having breakfast, I normally sit around and watch Good Morning America for 30 minutes before going to work. For the past two days, I've used about 20 minutes of that time to take a short 1.1 mile walk. It provides a few minutes to mentally plan the day and gives me a little boost to get me started.
I've also gone back to walking for my lunch. I enjoy having a Subway Veggie Delight ... and the nearest shop is about 1.6 miles from work. So I put on my walking shoes and take off about 10 minutes early and walk to the Subway shop. It's about 25 minutes each way, and I spend about 20 minutes eating lunch. So, depending on the lights, I extend my lunch hour to 75 minutes and the company gets an extra couple of hours out of me. For me its a fair trade - because I treat my work the way I treat my weight loss - I take pride in my accomplishments and I don't like to give up.
Get YOUR priorities straight!! Go for a walk. Take you dog, take your kids, just GO. The first steps are sometimes the hardest, but it's all downhill when you are starting from the top (of your weight)!
Thank You for Visiting!!
