2001.10.21 MILE & HALF NON-STOP... Vicki & I went out jogging this morning and walked to the levee bordering a small local river. We took off at a slow jog, and I went the distance, about 1.5 miles, non-stop. I peeked down at my heart rate monitor, and was up to about 175 bpm. Although this is a bit high, I did not feel 'overworked'. The good thing is that Vicki was behind me, and would be able to scrape me up, should I keel over :O)

I go to the end of the levee and Vicki caught up, and kept going. After recovering a bit, I started jogging to catch up - she was about a block ahead at this time. When we reached the next levee, she started jogging and went the distance, about another 1.5 miles, with me still about a block or two behind. This continued until we got home. We finished the 5.5 miles in about 70 minutes.

The Silicon Valley Marathon is next weekend. We are participating. We are going to finish the half-marathon. That's about all I'm going to say about that!

Online-Tonight is a technology radio show that is hosted by David Lawrence. It is available in the Bay Area on 910 AM, and is available for webheads from cnet.com. Cnet radio is a technology news and talk show format - a refreshing change from the doom-and-gloom of many of the media broadcasts today. Non-geeks allowed.

DietWatch is going to a fee-based business model. After November 1, 2001, people will have to pay a nominal fee ( less than $100/year ). I started my diet using the DietWatch food diary and message boards to support my efforts. They were powerful and supportive. I've since moved on to Fitday because it works from my office, behind the company firewall. I had problems with DietWatch. Another good, free service is CalorieKing.com. Both Fitday & CalorieKing are free.

I strongly recommend that a person seriously starting a long term, substantial weight loss log their food intake. I usually eat pretty simple meals for breakfast & lunch (almost boring and routine). It is pretty easy to remember what was eaten, and I log it in the eveing when I get home. As I have said before, I do not plan my meals, but I do keep track of calories. It helps to keep me aware of what I am eating and the calorie values of the foods I eat.

You will be surprised at where the calories are coming from!

Have a great week!

Thank You for Visiting!!
