2001.11.04 CLOSING IN... One and a half pounds away ... and three weeks to go. I'll hold the celebration until I actually make it.

My "injury" from the Silicon Valley Half Marathon seems to have healed just fine. (I had pulled a groin muscle, but still finished). Vicki & I managed to do an 8 mile walk this morning in 1:55:00. We are staying in training for the Seattle Half Marathon in three weeks.

Halloween ... A time of frivolity for kids and a day of Satan for dieters. The office had it's fair share of 'leftovers', as people were trying to unload their excess inventory. My wife had the nerve to bring home two large Snickers bars for me! hmmph ... (I'll save them for a rainy day ... ) Anyway, as you might guess, Vicki had a difficult time with the candy at her place of work. Likewise, her sister said that she "mainlined" chocolate during the week. Although both ladies shared their regrets for their actions of the week, both will put the events aside and continue on their previous habits of healthy eating.

The trick is to realize that you can treat yourself. You just have to know your limits, and remember the consequences of your actions. Even "normal" people overindulge in chocolate or other treats at times. Most will resume their "normal" way of life afterwards. For us, it just means getting back to the routine of sensible eating and daily exercise. Dieting is not enough, however. You've gotta move to lose and keep it off. The side benefit is that you will improve your cardiovascular health.

Now, I gotta go check that weather forecast. I hear there is rain coming...

Thank You for Visiting!!
