2001.11.18 HOME COOKING... Spent the past week in the Midwest, visiting my mother. She's still getting around quite well, and still likes to make sure her kid is well fed! After hearing her go on about how I should eat this or that, I finally had to say that if I gained weight on the trip, it would be the last for some time. I had put too much effort into reversing a lifetime of poor eating habits.
That said, we got off to a better footing. I went out & bought some of my favorite breakfast oatmeal and a bag of apples to keep around for snacking. We ate reasonably, and even went out to eat a couple of times. Fortunately, the weather was great during the trip, and I was able to get in a reasonable amount of walking each day.
The net for the trip - a pound and a half gain. Not too bad!
OK .. I'm now three pounds away from goal, but I have every intention of making it this week! I've found that following a small gain, or no-loss week, there appears to be a step-function loss shortly thereafter. The nexct weigh-in will be after we return from the Seattle Half-Marathon.
Remember, the key is not to be a slave to the scale, but to EAT SENSIBLY and GET EXERCISE. Enjoy your Thanksgiving meal(s), but do so in moderation, and get out for that walk.
Happy Holiday!
Thank You for Visiting!!
