Echolalia
A45a 1945 FIRST BERN PORTER EDITION
Four page cream paper folder. Printed in limited edition for Bern Porter, Berkeley, by James J. Gillick.
Published November 1945, in an edition of 1,000 copies.
A45b 1945 FIRST POETRY LONDON EDITION
Four page cream paper
Published November 1945, in an edition of 1,000 copies.
Note: This edition was published in Berkeley, California as an overrun of the First Edition with the Poetry London imprint. While intended for shipment to England, how many copies were sent and how many – if any – actually arrived, is not known. The individual leaves are identical with the First Edition. The cream folder shows two changes: the word "color" of the First Edition now reads "colour" and the British publisher is listed in place of the American publisher.
A45c 1947 FIRST MOTIVE EDITION
12 x 8 7/8 inches [folder]
Published in 1947.
Note: This item is not a separate printing of Echolalia, but uses the remaindered watercolor reproductions from the First Edition. Additional text was added to the folder by publisher Judson Crews and is the only part of this edition that is different from the First Edition.
The essay "HENRY MILLER" by "J.H." was written by Jack Hiner, Director of the Beard Art Gallery in Minneapolis, Minnesota and appeared on their exhibition flyer of Miller work in February 1947.
