Published in October 1944, at $1.50, in a numbered edition of 950 copies, signed in pencil on p. 38 by publisher Bern Porter.
Note: A printing error occurs on page 6 of the section title where it begins, "ON OPEN LETTER..." rather than "AN OPEN LETTER..." The "KIND FRIEND" referred to on the dedication page is Chicago bookseller, Ben Abramson, publisher of Miller's The World of Sex in 1941.
A37b 1969 FIRST WALTON PRESS EDITION
Yellow cloth boards. Clear wax paper dust jacket.
Published in 1969, at $5.00, in an edition of 150 copies.
Note: This edition does not contain the Miller paintings "Self-Portrait," "The House of Dreams," "Sevasty-Sevasty," nor "A Book-Poster Design." It does contain the following items that are not found in the First Edition: Footnotes and 4 photographs, one of which is entitled "Help."
On page [36] of first copy inspected is Bern Porters signature, along with the limitation number 23/150. Second copy inspected did not have the limitation number but three of the photographs had been signed by Bern Porter.
