The Victor Index is a significant addition to a typewriter collectors list due to its history. It was patented in 1889, and manufactured by the Tilton MFG. Co in Boston for one year. It was the first typewriter to print from a daisy wheel. How it worked was its rotated by a selector level that moves at a half circle arc, geared to revolve the daisy wheel full circle. Then a hammer presses the rubber type against the paper with the inking being done with pad. It is elaboratly decorated with gold paint which makes it an attractive model to collectors.
