Stupid Human Tricks Are for Kids: It's always fun to see Weezer on Letterman. It was their performance of "Say It Ain't So" years ago that hooked me to the band. On a whim I taped the show (perhaps more because I was a Letterman fan and not that I was a Weezer fan then), but after watching it I must have replayed the performance three straight times afterwards; it just made such a connection with me. Anyway, if you missed the "Beverly Hills" performance last Thursday. The Late Show website has the performance up. MORE...

To Believe or Not To Believe: I put up a new show preview of the Oakland show in the San Francisco Weekly. Agree or disagree with the writer, I think it's a well-written article that makes one particular great point. And you only have to read a few of Rivers's MySpace entries to realize that what he's capable of as a writer and particularly as a lyricist is not being put to good use in the Weezer songs he writes. How he can write such interesting, funny, and insightful essays about his life and at the same time write bland and banal lyrics does not match up. Something gets lost in the translation. MORE...
