My day started at 12 pm, where me and my friend Tristan went to meet up with Gilby (a friend) and after about an hour of nothing, we decided to get in line. Karl was walking around outside...untill finally i noticed him, as he was being cutesy with this little baby (Awwwww) and he signed Brian's knee on my Rolling Stone!
Then the tour buses came up..and we rushed down to get a picture of Scott, Brian and Pat coming out of the buses (No Rivers!).
We were about 20th in line, and we waited 7 hours to get in...and when we got in, Gilby got floor, and me and Tristan got Front row on the First balcony.
Ringside was ok, a pretty good warm up for Weezer. But then came Weezer..and the crowd went nuts.
"Tired of Sex" - Great opener...The real synth really kicked ass in this song. Every one was going crazy when this song started... the solo was killer, sounded soo awsome.
"In the Garage" - wow...Brian is one fucking talented man...He was not only doing the In the Garage riff...but at the same time playing the Harmonica riff...This song was completely rocked.
"Hash Pipe" - he didnt jazz up the solo like usual!! Bastard! this song still had the whole place moving... it was awsome.
"No One Else" - The backup vocals really came out good in this song, i was definetly pleased!
"This Is Such a Pity" - Wow...just wow...This is where we learn that rivers can fucking sing...he was solid..amazingly clear and pitch perfect.. Brian's synth could have been louder to help power the song through...but Rivers was amazing on the vocals here, it sounds soo good live...really awsome how it comes out...The dualing guitar solo thing with Bobby was great!
"Buddy Holly" - Rocking as ever! i love how they substitute the guitar fills as synth fills.. they sound great!
"Photograph" - Definetly had the crowd singing and going here!
"Getchoo" - Man i was pleased to hear "Getchoo" live! Scott provides the perfect little falsetto backings to kick this song in the balls...it was a little chunky, but awsome nonetheless.
"Hold Me" - Once again Rivers proves he is the man with his vocals... he was rock solid, he didnt miss a single note, and really sounded terrific... the one flaw perhaps was that theere was a build up to the chorus...where as it should just hit you..instead of a climaxing build up....Awsome still...Rivers can fucking belt it out
"Say it Ain't So" - This song had every one on there feets singing and screaming...it was fantastic...Scott's bass could have be a little more stringy...but every one was soo tight and it was a highlight event...the guitars sounded amazing.
"We Are All On Drugs" - This song deserves much more respect...The album does not do this song justice....After the solo into the Intro riff.....this song is simply Weezer's best live song...it is unfortunate that the album doesnt compare...
"Island in the Sun" - It was great to hear Brian sing that high and see what he can do!!
"My Name is Jonas" - The highlight of my life...."On the bass we have Scott Shriner, on the Drums we have Pat Wilson, on Guitar and Keys..we have Brian Bell......and My name is Rivers....but for this song it's Jonas!" Brian plays the intro with a pick, so thats impressive.... and then...it happens....The =w= comes from the roof....during the driven "Jonas" bridge...Bringing down the house....Proving that Weezer are truley the gods of rock.....Best moment of my life.
"Peace" - This song is fantastic live!! Bobby played acoustic for it...and it was awsome....Brian's guitar riff sounds great, and yet again Rivers sings his ass off!!
"Beverly Hills" - It definetely had the crowd singing there asses off... Brian doing both the solo's, and watching very one jumping!
"Haunt You Every Day" - Brian doing some great piano work...But Rivers...He misses 2 notes in this song...the first 2 "ohhhhhh so alone in love" he misses the first note 2 times...but it doesn't matter... cause he just kept going and for his voice to hold out that long is impressive.
After 5 solid minutes of unorganized WEEZER! WEEZER! WEEZER!
"Undone (The Sweater Song)" - With Bobby on accoutic..they kicked this song in the balls as well....Rivers' solo was ripping....Really awsome.
"The Good Life" - Really awsome, the Break down and the end notes prove this song to be a great set list finisher!
After the show me Tristan and Gilby went around back and waited for some of the band members to come out. Brian came out, and me and Gilby got pictures and signings from him... Fuck, he is such a nice and awsome guy, i had a wierd convo with him:
"Hey Brian! we came from canada to see you guys!"
"Hey, wow...But we were in canada last night?!"
"Yah but that was 19+ and i'm 18"
"Ohhhhhhh"
"So how do you do the back up vocals for The Other Way? cause those are insane"
"God i hope we never play that song live... that was actually the last track we recorded for the album, and i was just happy to get it done"
"yah its sounds like there's a lot of relief in that note"
"I dont even like that song, But yah thats a high Fuckin note"
"So dude...whats it like to be on the cover of the rolling stone?? *Shows him his own picture*
"I Dont know!! Its like what?? Crazy!!"
"Does rivers know he kinda looks like Billie Joe?"
"No i dont think he does...he does though kinda..."
So thats most of my story!! Hope you all enjoy, and i'll be sure to get the bootleg up and around soon!
