Notes for JESSE SMITH:
During the Civil War, Jesse Smith enlisted in the Confederate States Army. He was originally in Company F, 4th GA Cavalry. When Jesse's horse died, he was transferred to an infantry unit. He contracted the measles and died in June of 1863.

Notes for JOSEPH CRANE THOMAS:
When Joe was 18 years old , (Appx. 1902-1904) he operated a barber shop in or about LeFlore, OK. This barber shop was operated only on Friday evenings and all day Saturday. There was no electricity and he boiled water for shaves on a wood stove. Joe charged ten (10) cents for a shave and fifteen (15) cents for a haircut.
