KELLY'S CRYING

This is a pencil drawing that has to do with a night out with my friend Peggy.  Now Peggy was a good friend.  She worked for the state of California and boy do those state employees like to party.  Well it was Peggy and two of her friends (other women) and me at this place called Poor Reds in the little town of EL DORADO CA.  Back in the late 70's, early 80's Poor Reds was a place where you could go and get a home cooked chicken dinner or whatever gets cooked at home and drinks at the bar.  The place was so popular that the wait could last anywhere from one to two hours.  Now you may say, "forget that!  I'm going somewhere else!"  But the idea was to wait, sit at the bar, and drink Gold Cadillacs until you were seated.  In the mean time men pick up on women and women pick up on men.  Now back to the drawing.  There was a "knock-out" looking woman that had come into the bar with a group.  I took a second look later that evening and she just stood against the wall sobbing.  My heart was filled with sadness for her.  Some of her friends were saying, "Kelly's crying".  And she heard them and cried more.  That night when I was sleeping I had an intense dream about her crying.  I woke up and started drawing the vision of my dream. It's the first surrealistic work I've created.
